We had spray foam insulation on our old house (not put in by us I might add) - didn't cause us nor our buyers a problem re mortgaging, had two homebuyers surveys (one when we moved in & one when we left). Either it was a different type of insulation to what is being discussed here or several professionals seriously missed something.
    Or attitudes have changed since.
Maybe, although none of this was that many years ago. Bought 2013, sold 2019. Anyway, it's not my problem anymore and given how many headaches my buyer gave me I sort of hope it does give him problems in the future.
  • Hello I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use the old help to buy to buy scheme alongside the newly announced one.
For example I have the maximum amount in the old scheme but would I still be eligible to claim a 20% deposit under the new scheme?
Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I suggest you start your own new thread - your question has nothing whatsoever to do with the subject of this thread. If you can't find out how ... stop using a mobile device and use a proper computer.

No idea what your problem has to do with foam insulation.......
  • We had the same thing on a 130 year old terraced house we recently bought. We took the decision to replace the roof before we moved in.
ALL the battens were rotten and ALL the slates had to be smashed off and replaced. It was a messy job and the roofers gang did a lot of swearing!
But we now have a dry, properly insulated new roof, and peace of mind.

If you like the house enough it can be fixed. Our LTV was quite low so the mortgage company didn't make a big issue of it.
