Contributions based JSA ran out: help please!

Hello.
I was made redundant in May. Got contributions based JSA and UC. On 27/11/20 i was told it ran out. I've now been told my AP which is 02/11-1/12 is saying I've received the CJSA so it's being deducted from my UC even though it's not ongoing. Its also triggered a P45 from JSA which in turn has made my CMS money to be paid go up 7 fold. Been onto JSA,  they agree something is not right but case manager at UC seems oblivious to the fact I will be way down on my entitlement in the month of December.
I thought it would just be replaced £1 for £1 in UC.
Any help appreciated.

What date is the actual end date of the JSA? If entitlement stopped on 27th November then for the UC AP 02/11 to 02/12 I think UC should make a proportionate deduction - but this will only be slightly less than the usual full monthly amount.
    26 days x £74.35 / 7 = £276.16 (whereas full month is £322.18)

For your next AP 02/12 to 01/01 there will be no deduction.

You have been paid JSA up to 27th November. You are not going to be paid that amount of UC for the same period.

As your JSA has now ended then you won't have anymore money until your next UC payment, whenever that is.

  • I can't get my head around the fact that I would have got JSA twice I. December.
Can I claim anything else as I'm short for my basic living expenses.

JSA is paid in arrears, the same as UC. You're not any worse off by the JSA ending, you just need to budget better because you'll receive monthly payments, rather than fortnighly.
UC has replaced all menas tested benefits. Council tax reduction is the only other benefit that's possible to claim.
  • Thank you.
Much clearer than my case manager put it.

The money you will have been paid by 8th December will be exactly the same as you would have received in previous months.
On 8th January you will receive the same amount of money as you would have received between 9th December and 8th January if you were still getting JSA. The only difference is that you will get all of that money in one monthly payment on 8th January rather than spread out between fortnightly JSA payments and a monthly UC top up.
