Basic mono laser printer

Pl can anybody recommend a basi cmono laser printer for occasional use.  The ones I have sent at argos Brother HL-112 Mono laser Printer at £59.99 and Brother HL-L230D Mono laser printer .  Difference of only £20 which ones, one is double sided printer. Both good reviews.  I am looking for one I can use compatible toner. Thanks

You can use compatible toners on any of them.
A lot depends on whether you want to do a lot of double-sided printing, in which case it would be worth having the one that does it natively.  You can do it on the other one as well but you'd have to manually refeed the paper afterwards.

Couple of years ago I  purchased a Samsung Xpres 2026
It gets very occasional use but I have had no issues
Print quality is acceptable and it takes compatible cartridges
Internet search reveals availability at around £69, prices of printers have shot up
Only downside no automatic double sided printing

I'm assuming you mean HL-1112 and HL-L2310?  The first printer takes a 1000 page toner with a 700 page toner supplied in the box which will be a TN1050, it will need a replacement drum at approx. 10000 pages.  The HL-L2310D takes either a TN2410 (1200 pages) or a TN2420 (3000 pages) and will require a new drum at approx. 12000 pages again the toner supplied will do 700 pages.   From memory the HL-1112 doesn't have a paper tray as such, you fold the front down and that's your paper tray,  the HL-L2310d has a proper paper tray, maybe not a big issue but bear in mind, if you want to leave paper in the machine the HL-L2310D is the better option so that and the duplex would seal the deal for me.

  • Just to say, I've got a Brother HL-L2370DN and it seems fine. It looks similar to the HL-L2310. It was the cheapest one with an ethernet port, which is a must have on any printer for me, with multiple computers / computer users in the house.
I had a HP one previously and the paper feed broke after 2.5 toner cartridges worth of use.

A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?
