I'm not sure whether a UC claim even asks if you have a lodger anyway given that they make no difference to the UC entitlement. Anybody know?
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Just to be clear, OP, the application form is for UC. You have to apply for Council Tax Support separately.

If you do make a mistake on the UC form it can be rectified afterwards; it is not ideal because it will take time for them to look at the change and update your claim, but it is possible.

I can't remember myself whether when it asks you about other adults if that only means non-dependants who would be liable for part of the rent.
The CAB only mention joint tenants in the housing situation https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/applying-for-universal-credit/ (scroll down)
This would be consistent with lodgers not counting towards the number of bedrooms and their payments being ignored.
