False Alarm
I have a W reg Volkswagen Passat with an alarm fault. It goes off for no reason at all at irregular intervals. It seems there is no chance of fixing it as it will not go off when in for service. Is there an auto electrician about or somebody who could tell me how to disconnect the sounder? Its very embarrassing when it goes off at night!
When did problems become "Issues"?

check this baileyman, if its the original alarm that the vehicle manufacturer put in, you should have got an alarm reset key when you brought the car. its literally a small key that you put onto a certain point onto your alarm siren or unit under your bonnet and you insert the key in and flick the switch with the key to isolate the alarm.
it would be worth looking in your owners service manual that you had when you recieved the car or even go to VW main dealer and tell them to identify where in your car the alarm is kept so that your able to isolate/deactivete it.
hope it helps,

If what skiddy2k dosent help then i suggest disconnecting the alarm horn and fit a steering lock like autolock.
my mondeo had a similar problem with the fitted alarm. went off at nights. had to disconnect the horn. found the problem to be the switch under the bonnet which is exposed to all elements. changed the switch and everything was okay.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

If you disconnect a standard fit alarm then you must tell your insurers as they will possibly load your premium due to increased risk. Similarly if you have declared it to reduce your premium they will need to be told.0
