Lost PP case. Anything I can do?

I ordered an item, it arrived and was completely different to the one On the website. Emailed the seller who claimed the item I received was correct and refused the return. So I opened a PayPal claim. Uploaded pics from the site showing what I ordered and pics of the item I received etc. PayPal said return for refund.
Now I can’t walk too well so my uncle took the parcel the PO for me and didn’t say recorded. He just sent it first class. Entirely my mistake for not double checking with him that that was how I wanted it sent.
Uploaded proof of postage to PayPal but because I didn’t have tracking they found in the sellers favour and closed the case.
So I’ve no item, no refund and I’m down return postage too.
I realise this is my mistake by not sending tracked but can’t hurt to ask if there anything I can do?

How long ago was it posted back? If it was a parcel, the proof of postage should have a reference number which will not show tracking but will confirm any delivery attempts (successful or not).1

Middle of last week. It was a large letter.Spoonie_Turtle said:How long ago was it posted back? Oh, in that case I don't think there's anything you can do about the case with PayPal then. If it was a business seller they are legally obligated to accept a return within 14 days - which, if they have their own website, sounds like they are a business. Have a look into consumer rights on the MSE site, and/or maybe ask on the Consumer Rights section of the forum (I'm assuming there is one!)Rev said:

Have you registered for Returns on Us that PayPal offer? If the PoP shows enough of the address and the postage amount then you might be able to claim back the returns postage from PayPal themselves.0 -
Thanks. I thought as much. But worth asking.Spoonie_Turtle said:

I think you need to have been signed up for Returns on Us at the time of posting, but it's certainly worth registering now in case you need it again in the future.Rev said:

If you have proof of posting then you can make a claim from RM for loss ,the claim form is online.Rev said:I ordered an item, it arrived and was completely different to the one On the website. I did think of that but I’m 99% sure the seller has the item. So don’t see why Royal Mail should pay.soolin said:

Which I obviously don’t have.Sigless0
