2017 Golf - Tyre Pressure
Advice required to the discrepancy regarding recommended tyre pressures.
On the door pillar the recommended pressures show 35psi front and back. But for a more comfortable ride the pressure is shown as 30psi but tat the expense of fewer mpg. As someone who spun a car in his youth with over inflated tyres (apart from driving like a lunatic) I am now more cautious.
What do you guys recommend?

Follow the pressures on the sticker...
If you prioritise economy over comfort, go for 35.
If you prioritise comfort over economy, go for 30.
Or somewhere in between...

And if they are wearing more at the edges pump them up a bit, wearing more in the middle let them down a bit.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I've never seen a tyre pressure sticker that gives you the option of a "more comfortable ride", there's usually different options depending on the weight you're carrying. Can you post a pic?0

General 35 , i comfort 30, full load 41

Can you post a pic of the sticker? I've never known manufacturer recommended tyre pressures based on comfort - its usually on load and size of tyre. This is the sticker from my Audi A6, as you can see nothing about comfort is mentioned at all:caveman38 said:General 35 , i comfort 30, full load 41

Zellah, it's the one with the book and i on the page showing 35psi as opposed to the higher inflated 39psi. In my manual it would show that as the comfort setting. But with the proviso that it would be at the expense of higher fuel use.1

Thanks, i'll have a look in my A6 manual to see what the 'i' means. I'm using 36 PSI on my tyres (255/40/R20) but according the sticker I *may* be able to use 32 PSI.0

You are indeed correct caveman38, apologies. The book with the 'i' symbol refers to a comfort setting which *may* result in higher fuel usage:

I really think its a personal preference, only you can decide if its worth lowering the tyre pressure and potentially increasing your fuel usage. Maybe give it a try and see what it feels like?
