I would be grateful for advice/recommendations on the purchase of a Photo Scanner, please. I want to digitise old photos to my PC. Grateful for any suggestions.

Do you want to scan the prints or negatives?
What sort of quality are you after?
We have a fairly cheap negative scanner that we use so we can see pics on a digital photo frame running at 800x600 (scan at higher resolution though) and it works fine, however if you look closely at the images you can get dust on them if you are not careful.

For slides and negatives I use a Plustek OpticFilm scanner but too be honest it's way over the top. For prints I just use whatever flatbed scanner I happen to have at the moment.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

You don't need anything fancy to scan prints. Pretty much any flatbed scanner will be OK for that.
