Switching supplier with credit in my account

Hi,
I am switching from Eon Next (was Npower) to Octopus energy with a start date of the 29th December. I am currently paying £211.00/month on DD and have £177.00 credit on my account. I have called Eon and they said I am paid up to today (I gave them a meter reading on the phone and the balance reduced from £300+ to £177.00). By my calculation, the most I could possibly owe them would be half a month so therefore approximately £105.00. With it being Christmas next week, the additional £70.00 would be better in my bank account for last minute shopping than in theirs, but they said they didn't recommend I did this.
Would I be best leaving it as they said or could I safely ask for a part refund?

Let the Switch process run it's course, your Final Bill will show the exact credit due and it will be returned to the account which pays your D/DebitTrying to 2nd guess what your credit value is before the account ends, is likely to end in tears0

Leaving everything as it is (eg don't cancel the E.ON direct debit) and any credit due will automatically be refunded back to your bank account.0
