Red Flashing Lights on Electric Meter?

hi, just a quick question, i have two lights on my electric meter that blink at me, i understand that the quicker they blink the more electric you are using. one light seams to be for heat the other for electric. im on economy 7

My question is, are the blinks quantifiable? i.e how many blinks are there in a unit? does anyone know? if my blinks happen once every 10-15 secs is this good or bad?

help please.

Yes 1000 flashes equals 1 kWh.

Why would you want to monitor the blinks when you could use the red dial which makes up 1Kwh? Counting those blinks would be very time consuming and inaccurate.

Usually there will be a dial that spins quicker to make up 1 unit (Kwh) at a time. That dial will run to 9 and then turn the main reading 1 unit.

You could always opt for one of those energy measuring devices I guess if it's easier for you.

The OP is talking about an electronic digital meter with no dials e.g.
