No alarm code and Videx gate code given at new house

Hi MSEers
Estate agent isn't being particularly helpful in supplying us with the house alarm and a Videx intercom gate code on a house we just completed on.
How much should I be expecting from them at this point, or should I be going down the engineer manual/reset or asking a security company route?
Cheers

Did your contract state you would be getting the codes? Ideally it would - in which case it's the vendor you should be pursuing. In any event, has anybody tried other methods of contacting the vendor?0

Codes for my new property were written on the fixtures form if I remember rightly, the first thing I did was to change them all once we officially had the keys.I suggest to chase the vendor direct.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

EA have got their money now, so they don't care anymore. Contact the vendor and ask them directly.0
-
EA can only tell you if they know, or ask the vendor. Have they said they'll ask the vendor?Ask vendor or contact manufacturer or installer. If there's a reset option, why not use that? Do you have the manuals? If not they'll be online. Use duckduckgo.0
-
Why would you expect the EA to be responsible for the details? It's for the vendor to provide them.0
-
For obvious reasons, the manufacturers tend to be cagey about distributing info useful to those wanting to reset alarms, so I wouldn't expect more than the "user" manuals to be online.greatcrested said:If there's a reset option, why not use that? True but they might have guidance on what to do in situations like the OP's, even if it's just 'contact us on xxxx'.And a user guide is always useful to have if the seller did not leave one.0

Thanks for the insight folks. yes I expect nothing from the EA, but I found it odd the vendor hadn't offered them to the agent with the keys, hence my question. Was just making sure they weren't being overly lazy! There's no codes on the PIF.
Sounds like contacting the vendor directly is the first port of call and then I'll take it from there.
Cheers

The vendor probably intended to give you everything but forgot, you know yourself how easy it is to forget things like this if you have just moved. Especially if the vendor isn't a really organised person.Personally I left them on printed piece of paper, with all the spare keys on it, garage keys, back door keys etc all labelled for them. As well as all the manuals for the alarm, the integrated appliances etc, locations of the gas, electricity and water meters, the consumer unit and internal stop tap.But then we also left a bottle of wine, a card and two wine glasses for the buyers (they were first time buyers).Where I bought, I got given a set of keys, no idea if they were front or back door etc. It was a probate sale, so I had already had to discover where everything was when viewing the property. Such is the range you can get from a vendor, nothing to everything you would want to probably to much! Once house I bought we got a card....1

Can you ask a neighbour for the gate code or are they different for each property?
