Fridge help please

Hi all, I am hoping that someone can offer some advice please.
The light went out in the fridge yesterday and the whole unit stopped working (fridge and freezer).  I pulled out the unit, unplugged and replugged it.  The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not.  To double check, I left it off over night and left the doors open.  Plugged it in this morning - freezer is still working, but fridge is not.
Is it possible that the bulb blowing could stop the fridge working?  I thought the bulb was just for light but an wondering if it has caused a circuit issue?  Could replacing it possibly fix the issue?
I'm not exactly sure who old the unit is as it came with the property 8 years ago.
TIA

I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

    What's the point in guessing?
Theoretically, yes. When an incandescent bulb blows, the fuse often blows/trips too.

  • 1. Highly unlikely the bulb going out would cause a problem, particularly since the freezer is working.
    2. Have had this a couple of times (Bosch fridge / freezer).  Temporary cure was to defrost the whole thing for 24 hours.  But it was only temporary (6 months).  Did it one more time, got another three months.  Then replaced.

    Thank you both

@nofoollikeold I've just been down, left the fridge on max and there is a slight frost build up at the back - doesn't feel cold in there though so may need to give it more time.  It is a frost free one but assuming that since there is some build-up that it is working, for now at least. Hopefully if it is the same issue as you had, it'll hold out for a little while longer!

    Thank you both again!

Buy yourself a good fridge thermometer.
  • Is the motor running?
Does it go on /off when you change the thermostat setting?
For the sake of 20p, try changing the bulb......
