Xmas presents for 6 years old

Options
Hello.  My son wrote a letter to Santa, and I am confused a little. It's hard enough because my son changes his wishes every day. He has already ordered a game console, 3D pen, tablet, laptop, and lego. I'm thinking of settling on a game console and buying a board game for the whole family. I don't want to but all the things, I think it's too much.

  • At the end of the day, you are the parent and you decide what you want to buy for him. There's no need to get everything and if anything it will teach him he can't always get what he wants.

Stop at the Lego, he's 6 not 16.  Tech can wait.

You might want to change his approach.  He shouldn't be ordering anything.  He should be politely requesting and hoping that he gets one of the items he'd like!

It's your choice what you decide to get for him. Whatever you do, someone will come along to tell you you're wrong so just go with what you can comfortably afford that's on his list.

My 8 year old usually lists one 'big' present and then a few smaller bits. He knows that Santa and the elves don't have enough time and equipment to make lots of big presents for everyone and it would be greedy to ask for more than one big present.
He usually gets most of what's on his list as he doesn't ask for too much. As for the comments about not getting them tech gifts - the world is tech driven now. My 8 year old has known how to use a laptop for years and now has to do his homework online. Teaching them about tech at a young age is no bad thing.

As an 8 year old, I was desperate for an Atari or ZX spectrum so not much changes really.

^ I've got covid lined up as an excuse for my poor present buying.

Update - The company I [sometimes] work for (a major international import/export Co) has been in negotiations with the receivers to buy the remaining assets and goodwill. It would appear that the government has determined that elves and reindeer do not count as employees, and are instead chattels and livestock respectfully. As a result, the reindeer have been sold to a local meat processing plant (expect to see festive reindeer sausages on the supermarket shelves shortly). The elves have been sent to a recycling centre, and once processed, will most likely end up as stuffing for cuddly toys.
