    I lived as a student in student areas of Birmingham and Manchester. As fun as it was for me, I would say not for the non-students. 24 hour noise, parties, drunk students on the way home etc. 
    Also come summer, the place becomes a weird ghost town

    I'd avoid. One of our neighbours took offense to us as students due to the amount of noise my flatmate made. At the time it seemed like she was being unreasonable but now I'm older I know how much of a nightmare even small bursts of noise can be, and groups of kids hanging round fills me with dread.
