Hi I've also had a DRO in the past and creditors are not supposed to chase you for any payments. If a debt was included in the DRO they are no longer payable.

However, if it's a hire purchase debt or anything to do with rent arrears, they can still chase you.

Did you contact somewhere like StepChange or Citizens Advice to help you to get your DRO? Even if not, you could do worse than phone them for advice.

There's helpful info in this link from Citizens Advice as well.

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/debt-solutions/debt-relief-orders/debt-relief-orders-explained/what-happens-at-the-end-of-a-debt-relief-order/

You would be off better complaining to the Financial Ombudsman because the ICO's main concern is data control and breaches thereof. But not just yet, I'd get some advice from one of the free debt help agencies first.

(p.s. Sorry, I realise I'm not sourcrates or fatbelly, who I know are both very knowledgeable but I have had a DRO in the past, as I say. Hope I was a bit helpful.)

They're treading a fine line here. They're not demanding payment but are inviting you to pay in order to get a different mark on your file.

This is against the spirit of a DRO if not against the law. Is this a Water company? You're unlucky that they report. Mine doesn't.

Unfortunately while you live in that area you do have to have dealings with them.

The question here is whether their present marking of the account is accurate and the ICO is best placed to rule on that
  • Thank you ye a water company default in 2017 I think gor dro 4th November 2019 ended last month I called step change wasn't much help to be honest they didn't even know what a credit clean up is I told them to check here and look at legal begal thank you
  • There's some handy information here

    https://debtcamel.co.uk/repair-credit-record-dro/

It might be worth googling who the CEO is of the company and sending an email request to them using the letter templates in the link above.

I had an issue with Etika ringing me up and demanding payment despite being 5 weeks away from finishing my DRO and not having the correct default date. I found the CEO email address from the CEO Email site, sent an email asking to correct the default date and to stop with the payment demands and it was done within the hour.

Sometimes with things like this it's worth bypassing customer services and going straight to the top. It's shocking just how many companies and their staff don't know what a DRO is

    Good luck!
