Is Acoustic underlay worth the layout?

Looking to re carpet my 2 kids bedrooms on 1st floor, currently no soundproofing of any sort between the floorboards and I’m wanting to deaden both the impact noise of them stomping around and also the tv noise from lounge into their bedrooms. Has anyone had acoustic underlay fitted ,did it make any difference to justify the outlay cost, I’ve noticed there a several types , some rubber , some foam ... what’s best ?
