testing a used cooker

Is it safe to test a cooker on a 13amp ring main by testing each component separately?
I'm assuming the heavy wiring is to cover normal use where all components could be in use.

I think it's safe if each component is below 3.3kW. Usually they are.Regardless, how are you going to test it if not with a fused 13A plug?BTW, it's a single socket that is 13A. A ring is typically 32A.0

Doing that wouldn't confirm that the cooker is working properly or safely as there could be an internal problem which only becomes apparent when a fairly heavy current is being drawn.trismus said:Is it safe to test a cooker on a 13amp ring main by testing each component separately?
If it was me, I would only buy such an oven if I could test it fully to the same sort of operational conditions that it might get used at after purchase.0
