Conveyancing problems

We are buying a house and letting out our current house. We have had painfully slow communication from the conveyancer. The mortgage offer was issue on 25th October - most of the paper work has been in order for weeks. I just cannot get any reply to the emails and phones go unanswered!!!! The whole chain is stuck because of this, we should have exchanged last friday (11/12/2020)
The concurrent remortgage conveyancer (who works for the same umbrella firm) has been a lot more reachable and managed to get hold of the other conveyancer(she said, maybe we can complete on the agreed date of 18th dec). A week ago i got a generic email saying, the transaction may not be completed before 31st March 2021!!!!!
Is there anything I can do?
Is it too late to change conveyancer?

Can you go via the estate agent and try and get feedback from EAs further up the chain? There might be an issue there. I can't see why anyone would say after March was realistic unless there was a major hurdle - probate, new build etc.How many in your chain? We thought we were in a chain of three until the supposed exchange date back in March and turned out to be at least five! Communication wasn't great down the chain, obviously.Speaking to your vendor might also be an idea. The fact that we're in contact with our current buyer has been a godsend, or I'd know very little and our sale would have probably collapsed (again). Being at one end of a chain, your solicitor can only know so much. The whole thing is often like a game of chinese whispers. I'm not sure changing conveyancer is a good idea if your part of the chain is ready to exchange. It's pushing for the story further up - a job for the EA, I reckon...
If you're not ready to exchange on your own purchase then it is totally reasonable to want to know why.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

What do you mean by most of the paperwork has been in order for weeks? Have enquiries been raised? Have searches come back? Have enquiries on the searches come back? Have they reported on title to you? Have you signed and sent the various documents back?
If you're not getting a reply then escalate it within the firm.0 -
Have had two emails from the EA saying that the chain is ready to exchange.i have heard zilch from my conveyancer.
Yes, all paper work signed, all searches done.. the only thing pending was building regulation signoff - which I'm lead to believe has bee. With my conveyancer for a while.
I'll give it a few days and then escalate“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

If building regulation sign-off is missing, then the paperwork is not yet in order.1

So what are they going to do? Have you made a complaint to a senior partner?0

This seems to be going no where... I bloody regret selecting this conveyancer !!
Still going on about replies to the searches, when they have had everything with them for the last 1.5months. I even provided them my homebuyer, independent electric and gas checks which I had done...
