Bath slight creaking.

Options
Hey,

I have a bath which is made of some kind of acrylic / fiberglass and when you first stand in it there is small sound of crackling then stops and sounds normal. I know it's supported by a metal frame but not sure if this is normal for cheaper baths

The metal frame will be on feet - make sure that these  are firmly in contact with the floor.

It depends where the squeaking is coming from. It may well be that the squeak is where the bath is rubbing up against a wall or tile slightly when you get in or out.

Crackling sounds would concern me.  Many years ago friends of ours moved into a new build and heard similar noises.  They had been in a few months when the bath split from end to end and flooded the kitchen below.

I believe the metal feet sit on pieces of wood which are connected to the floor.

It's more of a initial crackling sound when first entering  than a continuous creaking when in the tub.

How much flex is considered normal though? I'm assuming it's a cheap bath as it's part of a new build house and looks very flimsy

Enough to have the odd creaking noise, particularly as I mentioned, if the bath edge is rubbing against the wall. It's the reason why you should fill a bath before applying silicone because they're always a bit of movement. I really wouldn't worry about it.
