Problems With Survey. The Extension Is Not Great

I've put in an offer for a house which is slightly overpriced and has been on the market for ten months and the seller was unwilling to negotiate. House was advertised as fully renovated 10 years ago. EA told me the house had been sold SSTC but buyer had to pull out due to personal circumstances but 100% there were no serious issues. Of course I didn't believe him and got a Home Buyer's Report.
I've spoken to the surveyor who has told me the extension isn't great. There is step cracking which shows movement and the roof is leaking. There's also damp in the house which I'm not too concerned about but would get someone to check it out.
I've advised estate agent I want to renegotiate once I get the survey and get a quote to fix the problem. Seller refuses I should walk away shouldn't I?

Depends if you want to buy a house with a poorly-built extension on it.
The other person clearly didn't.1 -
Depends what the survey says.Depends how much you like the property.Depends how urgent it is for you to move.Depends if you are a buyer looking for a 'move in /do nothing' house, or willing to take on improvements/maintenance.Depends what you have based you 'over priced' on.Depends what you think the market will do in the next 6 months or 6 years.Depends how long you envisage keeping the property.Depends how stubborn a person you are eg your emotional response if seller won't renegotiate.Depends........There's no right or wrong answer.1

greatcrested thanks. Will wait till I get the survey and quote to sort out the extension. But if there are serious problems with the foundations it's not going to be cheap and if the seller won't move on price then I will probably walk away.0

Get a good in - depth survey done, if they've done the extension "on the cheap" using a corner cutting builder (or even dodgy DIY) expect them to have done the same elsewhere.0
