H2B ISA: Solicitor is asking for a reference in closing letter?

Hi All, luckily I started the process of closing the H2B ISA account before the exchange of contracts, but now it may be the only thing that would delay the purchase.
So I contacted Barclays and asked them to close the account, the person on the phone promised that he knows what he is doing and has been doing it for 2 years. He issued me a closing statement which shows the amount I saved before closing the account. Bank representative says that this is all that is required for conveyancer to claim a government bonus. However, my solicitors are asking for a letter or a reference number. I stayed for 45 minutes on the phone with Barclays, H2B ISA team was involved, and in the end they said that no such reference is required. I also cannot find anything on internet that would also confirm that reference is required.
Has anyone had same problem?

I needed a closing statement and a letter so I got two separate documents. I don't know why but this seems to be a constant source of problems for H2B isas, a friend of mine had to cancel a transaction because his bank tried to move all his funds out of the account before they closed it.1
