0845 business number coming through to my private landline - how to stop it.

Odd one this. Wonder if anyone has suggestions of who to contact to sort.
We have had a few calls from people who have been calling an 0845 number. The number they call is a business in Stevenage which shows up on google as permanently closed.
Why would people calling that 0845 number get put through to me?
How can I stop it? Is there someone I can contact? Who supplies 0845 numbers?

It sounds like someone has forwarded calls to that number to you. The obvious people to contact are BT, good luck with that.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Just had another call. This guy told me the information had been provided to him by Marketscan which are a data company. I have contacted them to ask them to remove that number but I guess that number is already 'out there' It appears there are dozens of companies that can supply 0845 numbers and the like. Do BT regulate them?EssexExile said:It sounds like someone has forwarded calls to that number to you. The obvious people to contact are BT, good luck with that.0 -
Not BTs job to regulate mobile numbers .Your 0845 number can be blocked if on BT landline or via a call blocker phone .0

0845 Numbers are known as Number Translation Services, i.e. you dial an 0845 number however this number gets translated to a 01/02 landline number, and it seems like the 0845 number has been incorrectly configured.
https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm will let you know who the 0845 range has been allocated to, try contacting the range holder to see if they can look at why it calling your landline

To update this. A subsequent caller helpfully informed me that a company called marketscan had provided that info. I emailed Market scan and they rang me. They were apologetic and said they would removed me from their database. They suggested I also contact 118 as they supply the number. However, calls have tailed off so I will just correct the odd company as they call. Quite pleased with the helpfulness of companies who have called and of Marketscan. Not like my image of sales people at all!0
