Thank you for all the responses.

A detached house this year went for 227 with a similar spec and there had been nothing else since 2014. This house is on for 250. There are no terraced houses on this street.
Do you think we should discuss it with the estate agent? Do you think they'll budge.

Budge on what, the description or the price?
I agree with davidmcn - it is what it is, changing the description won’t actually change anything.
Do you really think that the description makes any different to the price, or more importantly it’s value to you?

That is a terrace but the name doesn't matter - its not like they can hide what it is you're buying. Clever words to perhaps attract more people who are searching. Like you, some people who really want a semi might be persuaded by this more unusual sort of terrace.
What they paid 5y ago doesn't matter - you have to find comparable properties now and compare the prices of them in relation to the value to you. If there are some recent sales nearby all the better but it seems not.
When it comes to negotiation vendor won't be interested in you saying I'm offering less because its actually a terrace and you only paid X for it. Could possibly even be annoyed by such an approach. It just has to be about what its worth to you and this is probably by comparing to other properties which interest you.
By all means sound the agent out when pitching your offer.
  • Looking at the pictures again, I'd be more worried that caravan next door is usually parked in front of the garage for most of the year,  blocking your lounge view.

Doesn't look like it's blocking it much more than the garage next door already is.
  • Estate Agents very often lie about the type of house to try and get more views. It's irrelevant, you have seen the house and your offer should be for what you are willing to pay for that property.

It's terrace, which means it has all the disadvantages of a terrace, noise from 2 neighbours through the walls, and no access to the back garden except through the house.
A proper semi will usually only suffer noise from one neighbour and will have at least a footpath, preferably a driveway through to the back garden.

Are you likely to notice noise through the gable wall of the right hand house, compared with a normal party wall of a semi/terrace? I'd have thought it would be substantial enough to insulate you from sound.

If its parked adjacent to their drive in front of the garage it will be very obtrusive.
I cant see why they would normally store a caravan in front of their lounge windows.

No 12 went for £177 in Feb 2019

But what prices are now is the part that is important?

Why would the estate agents budge?

The property with the caravan appears to have extended to the boundary with garage and upstairs? The roof tiles look newer. Or perhaps it was linked by garage and they built extension on top?

    Nice Log burner though.

The historical Streetview pics suggest that is where it normally lives (or at least did in 2009 and 2012 - may be different now!).
