Hi I'm mainly reading this week, have spent a smaller fortune on royal mail, have sent all gifts, managed to only use Amazon for one, now just need to get the gifts for the two young ones!
Any grand ideas for a gym bean and a book worm!
Anyhow have now given in to the mince pies! Am planning to do 5k a day for the Christmas period to keep the mince pies moving. Off to Waitrose later to get some deli stuff for Christmas days.

Morning folks,
Sorry - I became a lurker again instead of posting!
I've had fairly successful DFW week, it's payday today and normally I would rush out an pay all my bills but after checking my bank statement I realised that my overdraft interest rate has jumped from 17.9% pre COVID to 39.9% mid COVID - probably to offset the "first £500 interest free during the summer" Thanks HSBC! So instead I am paying my bills a couple of days before they are due to not slip into my overdraft earlier than I need to. This is taking some willpower as I'm clearing off 3 accounts this month and I'm dying to do so!
I'm also all Christmas ready - I printed off my present spreadsheet and ticked them off as I wrapped them. I find that this helps to make sure I don't "lose" presents as I hide them in different places in the attic. Today is my last day at work until January so it's going to be a busy one but I can not wait to have 2 and half weeks off!
DFW activities this week- NSD's - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Thursday night dinner - Really didn't feel like cooking but trying to get DS to eat healthier so made him his favourite dinner of salmon fillet, potatoes, veg and parsley sauce - The veg was all out of date (but fine) so I had to take it out of the out of date packets before OH got home as he is funny about out of date food!
- 2nd Income Sales - Made £60 on some printing orders (Expecting another £36 on Sunday when orders are collected)
- Went into the attic and brought down DS's old toys - majority of which were still sealed so sold on Facebook - £65 so far but lots more to sort out
- I have my works Christmas lunch this evening (I work for an American firm so their lunch is my dinner) - We have each had £15 sent to us via Uber Eats so I will use it towards treating me, OH and DS to a take away (I couldn't eat £15 worth of food on my own!))
- Trying to stop putting the heating on so early at home - I hate being cold! I lived without good heating in rubbish rental houses in my early 20s and I vowed I would never be cold again so am now walking around with a hot water bottle permanently attached to me
Hope everyone has a good day!

Afternoon allUgh, raining again today, but I managed to get the dog out for a quick walk between rain. OH was going out in the car, so I got him to drop me off in town with my latest batch of ebay parcels. Also went into the shop where I rent my sales unit and tidied it up, popped into B00ts for some Vit D tablets, and decided against going into W*itrose as there was a queue. I was going to do a top up shop, but would rather make do with what we have than queue to go into a crowded supermarket tbh. I probably shan't bother to try again till after Christmas now - it was manic in town, but I do have a delivery booked for early next week. Might try the open air market again on Sunday for veg etc, will see. Whatever, we have plenty in, and won't starve.Had hummus on toast for lunch (strange, but tasty), and will have jacket potatoes, coleslaw and the rest of the pie I made yesterday for dinner.2

Whew - exciting bank story to share. Went to pay in £11 of pennies from piggy bank, £10 cheque (Christmas money from Great Aunt) and £65 from m-i-l that was destined for OH. All good.
Checked online later to find all of the above along with £365 of cheques deposited! Erm...
Rang them and there's obviously been a mix up. Maybe they'll send me a box of choccies for being so honestLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.312 -
@carrielovesfanta hummus on toast sounds nice! Although I am the weirdo who like cheap salmon paste on toast so there’s no accounting for my taste 😂
What a funny mix up at the bank too! I imagine there’s some chap who is probably wondering where his cheque deposits have gone!
Today has been exhausting for me! It was suppose to be my last day at work until the new year but I’m no where near done so I will probably end up working one day next week. In good news I hit my target before I broke up so I can estimate what my minimum commission target will be next month and plan accordingly.
Tonight’s dinner was suppose to be the free takeaway using the voucher my work sent me but DS didn’t want to wait for a takeaway so had supernoodles, OH is stuck behind an accident on the motorway so will be 2 hours late home so I’ve had a student dinner of batchelors pasta and sauce! (Well the aldi version) we will then use the voucher tomorrow night instead which will be better as Saturdays always use to be takeaway night!
Almost managed a NSD today but ended up ordering a battery voltage tester from Amazon. We have hundreds of batteries everywhere and I’m never sure which are old or new so I had been looking at getting a tester for months. It was only £6 with free prime delivery but I’ve always said I don’t *need* it before so never bought it. I hope this isn’t the start of a slippery slope of allowing purchases 🤦♀️In better news! I managed to not put the heating on until DS came home at 3.45! That’s a big win as it’s normally on all day!2 -
No posts yesterday?
I hope everyone is ok after yesterday's announcement. I'm pretty upset if I'm honest. I was supposed to be going to see my parents but it's too far to travel there and back in one day (we are both tier 2). I haven't seen them since last Christmas and it would just have been the three of us, which we felt was a pretty balanced covid risk as they don't go anywhere and I don't really either. I can also get a symptom-free test in my area which I wanted to do before I travelled.
The stupidest part is that now I'll be in m-i-l's with 7 other adults. Hardly a safe space. Plus of course, we have to stay with m-i-l overnight on Christmas eve and Christmas day night because she can't cope wihout f-i-l.
I'm sad for myself but I'm more hurt for my parents. My dad isn't exactly renowned for being in touch with his emotions but he was saying that he'd been really struggling with all the restrictions and that he'd been looking forward to seeing me. This is tantamount to a declaration of fatherly love and I'm just upset thinking about it.
In fact, dad is still so keen that he's mooted us all meeting at a motorway services car park in order to exchange presents!!
Anyway, moving swiftly on. I need to figure out what I'm going to do today to try and cheer myself up a bit. I feel like I could do with a long walk. I'll probably ice the Christmas cakes too for what it's worth. Been awake since 4.30 but just laid in bed mulling over stuff. Now I feel like I need to focus my energy on something - it's not going to change by me snivelling over it. Would have been nice to go to the allotment but everywhere is so wet and muddy, it'd do more harm than good to dig anything.
I also need to re-write the meal plan as it was based around me not being home. I hope I have enough food in as we don't have a shop booked now until after Christmas. At least I'll have a lot of left over turkey. For some reason m-i-l likes to have a whole turkey, even though it is cooked and sliced before Christmas day and no one apart from me and OH eats the dark meat?!
I can't sit and dwell on human folly any more. Sorry for the big grump folks. It's not often that I get my knickers in a proper twist and get upset and I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon!
Take care all

Morning CLF - I hear you re the new restrictions. It's all a mess for us, I'm sticking my head in the sand! Nothing can be done other than hoping for things to change and getting on with it
I was working yesterday and it was pretty full on. Back again tomorrow....
Today:
* load of washing, double spin and hang on airer. Put away yesterday's load
* go get dog & take him for a quick walk
* wrap my last 3 gifts tonight
* cook joint of beef and veggies in the PC
* do some sewing. Need to do some alterations and add sleeves. It's almost done! Once I've finished I'll know how much fabric scraps I have left and what I can do with it. These last few days I've made myself 3 masks. 3 layers of fabric and a pocket for a filter, perfect fit and I fee less claustrophobic
* play a game as a family later & possibly watch a Christmas film
* need to get milk
Think that's it

Morning all((Hugs)) CLF, you are certainly not alone in feeling as you do
I would think about your Dad's idea of meeting up at a motorway services. Better than nothing. And there is no prospect of this ending any time soon. On Tuesday we are going to drive to DD1's to drop off Christmas presents and a big something that OH has renovated for DD1's mother in law. We had planned to see them over Christmas, but that isn't going to happen now. It means a 1.5 hour drive each way to say hello on the doorstep, but better than nothing and at least the GCs can have their presents. And I will no longer have a huge carved hall stand taking up about a quarter of my dining room
Anyway, today I will:Early morning dog walk (Done)Decided against going to an outdoor market as it would likely be very crowded (it is the last one before Christmas)Fold up dry washing on airer and put it awayMr S delivery at lunchtime. Not a big one, as no point. Quite a few things will be missing from the order apparently, so it will be even smaller than intended. I will book an Icyland delivery to try again to get some of the missing items. It is easy to get next day slots for Icyland here, even now.Pie making session. Our family secret santa this year had a hand made theme. Luckily, as I am rubbish at every known art or craft, I drew my younger son in law, who will love my selection of HM pies. I have already made and frozen about 4, and intend to finish off today as I have had enough of making pastry! And OH whinged every time I made a pie for SiL, so I had to make one for dinner here as well, and ended up doing double pie making sessionsSort out banking. I need to move some money and pay OH's tax billTry not to have a coronorary listening to Matt Hand**** on the Andrew M^^^ show that OH insists on having onHope that ziggy and her family are well again, and that 1 Lucky Lady is ok, as we haven't heard from her for ages.2 -
Hi Dawn, yep we are going to meet at the services as planned. Originally it was to hand me over, but now just the pressies - it's a 4 hour round trip for both parties but I dearly want my mum to have her gift! I have a few thoughts on how to make it a bit more special. Mostly involving home made sausge rolls (my dad and OH will have to try not to fight over them as they both dearly love a HM sausage roll!)
We've been for a little walk up at the coast, just got home and had lunch - not sure what the plan is now but I'll probably bottle the gin once the bottles are dry.
Weather looks nice here - hope it is for you all tooLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.312 -
I popped to the shops to get some last minute last minute groceries, £70 later!!! Hopefully other than milk there is nothing else we need this side of xmas and only fresh bits the in the wilderness week
Lidl was busier than it has been in months!
I've signed up to a free sewing seminar at 8 tonight. Hopefully it is actually a seminar as apposed to a advertisement for the course!DF as at 30/12/16
