Received LCS letter

Good Evening 
i bought a property and exchanged happened 1st of May 2020. On the same day I set up my electric and gas with SSE. I received a letter from LSC addressed to ‘the occupier’ stated I owed SSE 400 pound for the period 2nd of jan to the 23rd of May 2020. Then a few months after another letter from them however my name was in this letter again for payment. However I purchased the property the 1st of May gave the readings for the 1st of a May. What shall I do? And will my credit rating be effected? It is a brand new property and has been rented

I would have thought a call to their customer services stating you were not in residense at that property, at that time would be a first step, followed up by sending written conformation of your position, and enclose copies of your evidence to back up your case.

If the supplier reports to the CRA`s then check and see what might have been reported there, and take appropriate action should you need too.
