I wouldn't want to suggest a price as it will depend on how much work there will be to remove the old system, and where you are in the UK, but are you sure the old pipe and radiators need replacing?  A new boiler will be c£2500, and the old radiators and pipes can be flushed clean for c£400.

Try to find a local independent supplier, British Gas will probably be double the price for the same thing, plus with a good local fitter you will have someone to look after it in the future. Seriously, BG will be well overpriced.
  • Im based in Glasgow , Scotland  my house is around 45/50 years old so the pipework is microbore and to be honest I would rather new pipework and radiators . The reason why Im swaying towards BG is because they do 0% interest free and the option to pay it up is helpfull I dont really know if local firms would do that ?

Whatever the option it is always better to get your own loan. 0% is factored into the fact BG will charge at least double what anyone else would.

Loans are pretty cheap. 0% MT credit cards are also an option.

How much it will cost depends on how hidden you want the pipes to be (there will need to be a couple of big pipes beetween floors at least). Remember you can reduce the cost by boxing in later it you can. No one knows the layout of your house or the accessibility of under the floor (concrete base? then it's harder to hide as everything needs to come down from above), or what level of hiding your require or indeed what you will put up with.

5K+ is your answer. But the + depends on what you will accept. (and this really needs to be stated by you before a quote or you may end up with a perfectly done job for the price and still be upset with it).

Just bear in mind that the interest rate from BG may be 0% but you are paying to borrow the money, and you are probably paying over the odds. I would only go with BG if you cannot get credit anywhere else.

  • I had a quote here for a boiler replacement.
I had a couple of local firms quote, then got British Gas to quote. The British Gas salesman was quickly sent on his way - their price very close to twice that of the local firm I opted for. As well as the price being so much more, the warranty and servicing was on offer was worse.
  • I had a quick look there on trust a trader and found a local firm who offer 0% interest aswell I might consider getting them over to see how much it would actually cost. I have heard from a few people now who said BG are a rip off

As others have said, unless you sort out your own finance then you'll probably pay over the odds for the installation.

Make sure you get a specification for what they are going to supply and install and get at least three quotes (making sure that they are all doing roughly the same amount of work)
You need to try and get a base price from one or two local plumbers to evaluate how much 0% finance might be costing you compared with a bank loan
