  • You chose to go along with this even though
    * it is not normal practice
    * it is inconvenient
    * it suggests some kind of tax fraud
    * it is contrary to the terms of the tenancy agreement
    * it is unreliable
    * it leaves you with no evidence of payment of rent

    In this instance you are right, but I told the landlord I was not happy with it.
    next step: ask for his bank account, regardless.
    However, I am still waiting for him to come to collect the rent this month as a refused to post it!

  • NO! Simply send him a cheque with the rent, job done (photocopy first). If he refuses to accept by post that's his problem, not yours , you will have paid rent.

    Inviting landlord round??   He'll only kick-off (do hope I'm wrong). And if he does come round, cheque only , not cash, please.
  • I thought about it during this helpful post: Yes I am going to give a cheque!  I do not why he takes too long to come around to collect the rent!  It is actually the first time I am inviting him around.

    So you are happy to break the terms of your contract and go into rent arrears? Nice!
    As explained earlier, it is your responsibility to pay the rent. It is not the LL's responsibility to collect it.
    I assume you have been given an address "for serving notices on the landlord". If not, that is the only justification for not paying your rent.

  • He told me, He was coming to collect the rent and so am waiting....We never missed a date in three years of paying rent, and if he's not coming tonight, I will post a cheque tomorrow.
