Added Care warranties

John Lewis offer extended warranties on some of their electrical appliances with Added Care which I believe are part of the Warranty Group company. I have two bad experiences with Added Care and was wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems in dealing with them ?
Firstly, their telephone system is appalling - quite often you can't get through to speak to anyone because all you get is the "please choose from the following options .. " message constantly repeated. I tried for three days with no luck when I was attempting to purchase a policy from them for our washing machine some years ago. When I complained about this via email I was told they didn't have any faults or reported issues with their phone system over the period, (3 days), that I couldn't get through to them.
Secondly, I'm in the process of attempting to get a repair engineer out to attend to my Bosch cooker that has started to develop intermittent faults. Same problem with their phone system - had to get John Lewis to contact them. Added Care told me to ring Bosch to arrange a call out - (why Added Care can't do that, heaven knows?) . The first appointment I could get was in a weeks time. When that day arrived I got a voicemail message telling me the appointment had been cancelled and the next available one was in 12 days time ! I was told that if that date is inconvenient then ring Bosch re-arrange. It was inconvenient, so I rang them only to be told that there were no engineers available until that date. I attempted to contact Added Care to see what they could suggest, but was greeted with a message that said "due to Covid-19 we are not accepting any calls over the weekend," (it was Saturday). Both Bosch and john Lewis don't have have a problem with weekends, so why Added Care ? At this point in time, (Sunday), I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to attempt to get into contact with Added Care again, (hopefully avoiding their rubbish telephone system), to see what they suggest. I think having to wait more than 3 weeks for an engineer is unacceptable. I could probably get one myself next week using one of many local reputable appliance repairers, but I'm stuck with the terms and conditions of Added Care which stipulate that it has to be a Bosch engineer.
Are these extended warranties worth it ? Perhaps a better idea would be to put away £5 a month in a savings account to cover any repairs over a five year period.
Should Added Care change their name to Added Hassle / Added Stress / Added Bother ??
What are other peoples experience of Added Care ?

I stopped taking extended warranties back in the 1990's. I came across a price list of warranties and went around my house adding up the cost for all the main items. The total came to an amount that would have allowed me to replace 1 major appliance or multiple smaller appliances every year. I decided it wasn't worth it.
On the other hand a friend always takes out warranty on her major items and they seem to always break down just before the warranty runs out - so she keeps getting replacements.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Worth it depends upon cost and what the care is .Also depends upon level of manufacturers warranty .For me 99% no .Occasional Argos warranty and Free John Lewis Richer Sounds warranty .Problems 2020 with contacting multiple company's well posted everywhere .0
