NPE (National Parking Enforcement) private parking fine for parking there for 14 minutes

Hi guys, I’m pretty new to this forum and parking fines like these. I’m starting a new thread just to check if I do have any way or angle I can fight this, other than a simple mistake maybe? So the story is that I was picking up a baby gate from someone selling it on FB, and he says to park up in this particular space and that he will be 5 mins. He ended up being a bit longer but when he arrived the sale was closed in about 2 minutes. I drove away from that thinking nothing of it but a parking fine of £100 (£60) came through the post. Now, I’ve read up a bit on the procedures of appeals since they are IPC accredited but have now turned down my appeal and given me more time to pay up. When I parked up I really wasn’t looking for any signs which I admit I should’ve done but the seller sort of gave me this false sense of confidence that I could park there for a couple mins. Obviously I know 14 mins is over the grace period and that’s why I’m thinking whether I actually am in the wrong here. Thanks in advance.

Where was this? Who is the PPC? What sort of car park was it? If you were collecting something from a residence was it an apartment block or similar. If you were picking up something you would have been loading/unloading and not parking!3

Hiyya, it was a vets in Norwich, I’m not gonna name them, but basically the car park was directly beside the vets and I received the charge for not being a patron to the vets, as I was loading/unloading as you said. This was all seen through a camera nearby which snapped quite a lot of pictures.Le_Kirk said:Where was this? Who is the PPC? What sort of car park was it? You will need to take your chance in front of a judge then so you will need to work up a carefully crafted defence. What were the circumstances that led the resident to tell you to park there? Does he have any influence over the vets? For how long were you parked? Did you see any signs? Are they forbidding?2

This seems prima facie to be an abuse of a private parking space. Read the newbies/stickies and revisit the signage to see if the PPC has dropped the ball.
In future try to avoid private car parks and, if you do use them, read the small print. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.1 -
PPC is National Parking Enforcement (see thread title) and I think we've had previous cases involving them and parking in front of a vets' premises in Norwich. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You'd need to search the forum. You can do that as quickly as we can.
Much will depend upon the size, position, clarity and prominence of the signs, which a Judge decided, wasn't good enough at this Vet's surgery where OPS infest:

I might have been able to, but you playing at MI5 made this just too difficult and time consuming to do the necessary research!Spazzotron said:
