19 days is the agreement for all 'LINK' machines in the UK - no matter who owns them or runs them - they must be balanced within this timescale OR accept the claim from the OP as genuine.
Thanks for that.  In which case, I bet they just give out the 19 days as a default response but in the majority of cases, it wont be as long as that.
Well dunstonh and others...... you were right!
Got a secure message from NW today 16th Dec to say my claim has been accepted and the money will be refunded
in 2-3 days time. We will see.
Many thanks to all you out there - it could have been so  much worse.

A lesson learned as to why not to use cash.

Any time I've purchased a vehicle from a private seller I've paid via direct bank transfer (faster payments) using my mobile banking there and then.

That way, you have proof that you paid if things turn sour too.

Really no need for cash in todays society.

Covid times, I even pay by card for a newspaper.

Pay my favourite fish and chirpy, no card payments, with cash in a bag, don't do change now, so still living. Just been lucky on eating out.

Are you sure the cash didn't appear then get gobbled. You've got to be quick on the grab these days.

Don't do bikes., yes, to sports cars and surf boards.

    Good luck to the OP

I don't care how good the fish and chips are, a cash only business sounds like they don't take covid seriously.

    Or aren’t paying their tax.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

I'd wager this is the most likely reason!
