Cracks in walls of recently purchased house

Interested to know the conclusion of this.. moved into a house about 8 months ago and I’ve noticed similar cracks. No idea if they’ve always been there or not, also not massively worried but maybe I should be.0

I moved to my new home 2 months ago (1969 built). After a week noticed cracks all around, I marked them with a pencil - little line and date, to check if they get bigger, they are not or just a bit, so now I stopped worry.0

To answer the basic line of your question - No the sellers don't have to legally tell you if cracks have appeared its likely that they didn't notice but cracks like these don't turn up over night. Perhaps revisit the listing pictures to see if you can spot them that way you may be able to challenge the surveyor for missing them if they were there.0

WARNING: OLD THREAD
OP hasn't been active on the site since December 2020 so I doubt they'll be back.
Best to start your own thread and post photos of the cracks, if you can (here or in the DIY forum). Plenty of knowledgeable people who'll be able to say if they look immediately alarming and need further investigation.
What sort of survey did you get?0 -
Hi, I haven't been on here since the original post. In terms of the cracks, we had a load more appear, all sort of hairline cracks in the plaster and ceiling.
The majority of cracks appeared close to where the house has been extended twice. For the time being I'm putting it down to the 2 extensions settling, although it could still be something more serious.
We do have a large tree say 60ft in height at the bottom of our garden maybe 20-25 meters away from the house which also could be contributing to problem, although this is possibly going to go in the near future as it's now a health and safety issue (a very long story when we were buying the house)
We decided to wait and live in the house for a year before house improvements and decorating, so will know more as I go room to room1 -
Hopefully it turns out to be ok.Our house which we purchased recently does have some hairline cracks scattered around, though I’ve not seen any in the coving like in your photo. Generally around windows but I feel it’s most likely just the plaster. There are a few larger cracks in the garage walls which are concrete though and I have marked these to keep an eye on0
