Faulty Dash cam

Hi,
I bought a dash cam on July 14th this year via Amazon. It’s developed two faults, one major as it continually switches itself off whilst I’m driving
Ive asked the seller for a refund but all they’ve said in the reply is that if I give them my address they’ll send a new item. I don’t want another one. I’d like a refund
Where do I stand legally? Do I have to initially allow them to repair or replace and then if that’s still unsuccessful I can ask for a refund?
I have no confidence in the product hence not wanting another. Amazon are calling me Tuesday to see how I’m getting on. The seller contacted me earlier
If I take the replacement and that develops a fault it will be past six months so legally that will make a difference, I’ll be in a weaker position
TIA

Are you sure that the dashcam is actually completely closing down and it is not just the screen that shuts off after a period of time?LudaMusser said:Hi,

There’s two problems. The SD card says it’s full but the way to combat this is to connect via WiFi the cam to my phone and then remove the files. I’ve tried everything but I can’t get the files to show on my phone. When I first bought the cam they did
The second problem is that whilst I’m driving along the cam will switch off, sometimes it will come on for a few seconds then go back off, all whilst plugged in to my car. I’ve tried two different sockets, it makes no difference
I could put another SD card in and see what happens. I just don’t really want this cam again. I was hoping for a refund and to then but quite an expensive Garmin or Nextbase. I might still do that and put the replacement in my rear windscreen0 -

Try a reformat of the SD card.LudaMusser said:There’s two problems. The SD card says it’s full but the way to combat this is to connect via WiFi the cam to my phone and then remove the files. I’ve tried everything but I can’t get the files to show on my phone. When I first bought the cam they did

Try lowering the sensitivity. Every time you go over a bump it thinks it is a accident and locks the current file, eventually filling it with locked files.0

Amazon rang me today to ask how I was getting on with the seller. I previously spoke to amazon on Thursday last week. I said I’d asked for a refund but the seller just said I can have a replacement, no mention of a refund. Amazon simply said we’ll issue you the refund now, result
I’ve just got to return the dash cam to Amazon first using the pre paid label. I’ll be looking to buy another dash cam in the £70-100 bracket. Recommendations welcome

Garmin mini and Nextbase 322GW both appear good but WiFi can be slow from what I’ve read0
