  • What on earth ore Coastway vets doing in allowing this company to operate on their behalf??

Out of the back of this, would/are Coastway vets be in any way liable for any costs/ separate action over the behaviour of their agents?

Coastway vets are responsible for this sort of crap for years, including when they used to let a previous incarnation of OPS (I think, or may have been another nasty clamper firm) clamp and demand money immediately, before 2012.  I recall reading a clamping article about that place and think one of my builders who was working at my cottage last year told me he had his car clamped there by some thug, years ago.

    This really is no better.

I did wonder if Coastway vets have a family connection or something to a PPC Director because it's madness and a bullying mentality (not normal business operation for most shops, vets, etc) to let this sort of crap go on for over ten years as if it's normal, instead of just putting 'RESERVED' or 'PERMIT HOLDERS - VETS ONLY' on the tarmac and/or a sign on the red posts that already exist in front of every bay.

Coastway vets should be ashamed.  BTW one of their signs has fallen off the wall, the Defendant tells me, and hasn't been replaced in months.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • The thing is, these parasitic parking companies will just continue to prey on people for as long as landowners allow them to.
Even when a PPC looses in court, in the long term its a win as they can claim they take people to court - and the threat of court action is enough to scare people into paying up.
Planes that allow un regulated predatory parking companies to operate on their land should be made fully responsible for the actions of these PPCs, even more so if there has been previous issues

  • While it is rare to award costs in a small Claims case (there has to be a finding of unreasonable behaviour [CPR 27.14(2)(g)] the Defendant is entitled to his expenses for coming to Court including travelling, parking and loss of earnings up to a maximum of £95. I'm surprised that the Judge didn't award them.
