  • Not easily , why? It is fairly new what's your need

  • Laptop CPUs are often soldered directly to the motherboard which makes replacement unrealistic. If you are looking to speed it up and it has a mechanical hard disk drive, then changing to an SSD will often make the world of difference.
  • Thank you

    It's not for me but my LD brother.  I think he plays games.  How can I find out if it has a mechanical hard disk drive ?

    thank you

    It's a decent CPU and the best i7 in that range is not much faster, the main obstacle to gaming performance in that laptop is the lack of a discrete graphics card and unfortunately the graphics card can't be upgraded.

    You need a laptop with dedicated GPU for gaming.
    That is not upgradeable.
    CPU fairly new.
    Return or sell it and get a gaming laptop.

    What problems does he have playing games? Which games?

    For good performance with the more demanding games he'll end up spending more than £2k on a model that has a dedicated GPU. This laptop series uses the GP that's built into the CPU and that's fine for older games but not the most recent first person types.

    If he doesn't need the full portability of a laptop he could get a compact desktop PC with graphics card and small monitor for less than half the price of  a comparable laptop.

    It'll be the version with i5 at 1GHz base speed and up to 3.6GHz turbo-boost.

    It really depends on which games, and what quality settings. My sub £800 laptop plays most games* OK with the GTX1650 GPU.

    * COD4 MW, HL2, DOOM (2016), BF3, Trackmania etc.
