Holes too big in wall

I used a filler with a caulking gun for holes where a rawlplug had been pulled out, then used a filler and filling knife for the wider layers. You need to leave sufficient drying time before you can drill into it again, or fill over a few days, layer by layer. I just sanded over and painted my filled holes so it was less important that the deeper layers were dry.Another option is that you use a piece of wood that cannot be seen from the outside and drill two holes on either side of the hole? That's only going to work once you've filled your original hole and you drill into solid plaster into either side. Hard to advise without a picture!1

Thanks for all your replies
There aren't alternative holes, so I've bought this as suggested.

However I went to use it and the resin appears to be in a plastic bag inside the tube, like a sausage skin with a piece of metal holding it shut.
Do I just put the tube on and squeeze or do I have to remove the wire?

I think the first reply was spot on, just pack the hole with some wood and screw into it.
but for some reason you don't want to go for that simple option and instead want to buy some fancy resin compound that probably won't work as well?frogglet said:Not being good at whittling wood, is there some sort of filler i can use?0 -

But I'd rather not have complete strangers in my house at this time. Thats why I asked for suggestions on here.0 -
When you've fixed it put a shelf over it so no one else can pull it off!Sorry, don't know about the inside of the fixer. If it doesn't tell you on the instructions either ask the retailer or go online to screwfix/Amazon whoever has a listing and use their Q&A section to ask.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

From reading the instructions AND some comments in the reviews (overwhelmingly positive), you need a decent skeleton gun and need to begin with some very firm squeezes so's both bags inside are punctured and release their contents. You then need to look for an even grey mix coming out - that indicates the two compounds have mixed and will now set.
You also need to junk what first comes out as this almost certainly won't be mixed and therefore won't set.
Remove all obviously loose debris in and around the holes. Try and blow out (ideally with a straw or similar so's you don't get crud in your eyes...) the holes to remove all loose dust and debris. Then inject quickly and push in plug until just below surface level. It should be set in around 10 minutes.
"Instructions are incomplete. Does not mention grey, does not say to pump hard first go. You need a good quality gun that can apply a lot of pressure, but even if you have this - there's a technique which is not covered in the instructions. Of course we know resin is going to need to be done quickly but take a moment - when first pumping - pump VERY HARD to make sure both bags inside the canister burst - this will make the mix go grey.Don't do as we did, which is to read the Rawlplug web site and "Dispense to waste until even colour is obtained." After 12" of pumping "to waste", thought it must be ready or we're going to wate the whole tube. Turns out the instructions should be: "Dispense to waste until even GREY colour is obtained."So if the mix doesn't go grey. Bin it - it's a bad cartridge and useless. Adding more pressure just empties the yellow resin bag - you have to burst them both in the first few seconds. Even then, it might not work - some of our cartridges didn't give any hardener at all for us.Found out the hard way - all anchor bolts installed, but no hardener went in, only found out it should be grey after phoning Rawlplug. Wasted a whole day on site and a massive, messy cleanup with solvents.Rawlplug tech support blamed the gun, but it can't be. If it can pop one bag but not the other, first bag will empty no matter how much pressure is applied. Bag design should be improved to make deployment more consistent. "1 -
Thank-you Jeepers.
I've had a more detailed look and it looks like it is two sausage skin type bags held together with one metal clip. I've got some sturdy metal guns, but I think I will remove the metal clip somehow.
It looks like if I just put it in the gun and push only one side will come off.0 -
I haven't seen anything that says to remove any clips, so I wouldn't... :-)
If you follow the instructions as they are and the tube doesn't work (and that seemed to have been the case for a small number of people), you simply return it to SF.0
