Unplanned spend out of exasperation with where I live, I bought 2 lottery tickets. I know I won’t win but that little hope makes me feel a little better. I cannot describe how awful my neighbours are, it’s reduced me to tears today. Asd@ was out of stock of 3 things so I used that money to cover it.My new long term goal is to get away from here, I don’t know where to start but I can’t live here much longer. Enough is enough.Life happens, live it well.15

Hello, I would like to join please. Looking forward to sharing and learning from others on becoming self-sufficient and save money. I will be growing own veg, selling, swapping or giving seeds, seedlings and produce with friends who also growing - I'm the only one who is using the Hugelkultur method. I've started buying in bulk when offers are worthy and now researching more ways to cut back on buying when could use things that are already available in my home, such as upcycling clothes, cleaning without chemicals, make, mend and do, and the like23

Was not being very frugal for tea as we have been busy doing stuff DH in his shed me indoors doing stuff too. DH popped out to buy some bread and milk and was meant to buy tea from a chinese as it turns out first one and 2nd choice were both shut, now eating from the freezer what was originally planned, fate pushed us back on track
Diner was from freezer too.
I purchased some water filters from Tesco and are at least 3year old stock due to the promotion on the packet as it turns out, will be popping back to them tomorrow as not impressed as even charged 2021 prices. Currently £10 cheaper a box at John Lewis!! Frugality as it needs to be

MandM90 I am on another cleaning/housework forum and I have to move on when people start talking about how they cant cope with the amount of laundry they have. Usually this is people who put their kids in clean PJs every night, and wash towels after every shower. It makes my blood boil - bad for the environment, bad for your clothes, a waste of money, and a waste of time. I wash clothes when they need washing, except for things like socks and undies.
I had to get milk today and the little grocery shop near work had flowers reduced to £1, so I was tempted by a big bunch of bright yellow chrysanthemums. I trailed petals all the way home, then as I carefully cut their stems to go in a vase more petals and leaves drifted one by one to the floor. I had to laugh as I carefully arranged what was left into a vase and instructed everyone not to touch or move them. Oh well it gave everyone a laugh if nothing else.
Just done my As@a order for tomorrow - this brings food spend to £265 which is good, but I know some of this is because I had extra from Christmas.
Willow sorry to hear about your neighbours, and Wishus thinking about you x

Thanks friends x I chatted to ds and dd and they’re keen to move too. We’ve talked through a couple of options and are going to work towards them with my Mr as well, I feel a bit better now, though still hopeful my numbers come up!
I popped by the fareshare table and picked up potatoes and bread. Very pleased to have found this option, I will visit regularly.Got to keep strong and live rather than exist, things will be better eventually.Life happens, live it well.17 -
Evening everyone I would love to join please
I have read the entire thread with much enthusiasm 😂 wow so much going on.
Willow sorry to hear about your neighbours, and Wishus I'm another thinking about you and wishing you strength.
I am very frugal, very minimal but always learning and picking up tips.
No olio round my way and the too good to go always gone or to far but I have seen a lidl veg box and was very impressed with it. I no longer prep for armageddon but have around 8 days a time worth of food in the house mainly as I ran down all stocks which saw us through some bleak times.
I pretty much have 2 of everything as I like a spare but this is a habit (or OCD🤔😂) that I need to change.
Thank you to everyone for the chat, hints and tips I've picked up reading the thread.

With regard to stock piling. I try to have one extra in of most things, unless it's something that is used rarely, spices, foods colouring, etc. Some things I buy several of, because I don't go in some supermarkets too often. So coffee, toothpaste, stuffing mix, gravy granules, all from Morrisons. If DD2 comes down, I buy six months worth of dried goods and tins, using her staff discount, from Tesco. So pasta, oats, baked beans, etc. If I spot things reduced, that we eat, I buy as many as we can use, before they go off, or as many as will fit in the freezer. On top of all this we send pigs and lambs or ewes every year for meat, and I grow a lot of fruit and vegetables. So we always have a house full of food, handy when snowed in our isolating. But I am spending as little as possible to feed eight of us.
Right back to schooling, speak later, mumtoomany
