It would be so handy to have frugalers all around to share the surplus, help grow the fresh produce and organise swapathons!
I thought of something else for the dip... potato salad! I also have some wraps and a little carton of salsa so I could use more garlic & onion mayo in frugal fajitas.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I wish I lived near frugaldom too. However I’m probably as far away as I can be without falling in the sea!I just checked my fig seeds and they have separated really well! Going to use a tea towel to catch them tomorrow and get them straight into soil. I need to rejig things again as i need more growing space! My son love him bought a fig tree sapling as a surprise, so exciting!Life happens, live it well.10

The roof over the wood store is finished
Once the wood has dried out and been chopped my aim is not to use the electric oven or hob just to use the one fuelled by wood. I am lucky enough to have an endless supply of free wood so it seems a shame not to use it. Hopefully, it should also save some money.

DD2 wanted a toweling head turban for when she gets out the bath, so instead of purchasing one, used her sisters as a template and made 2 out of an old towel. Elastic provide via 2 old pairs of leggings.

CR that's fantastic!
Two spends yesterday: a few hundred quid towards next years Eurocamp hols, and used a voucher to get DH some new slippers from M&S (Tesco ones I bought him for Xmas fell apart within 24hrs!) Nothing unplanned though. Was reaaaally tempted to use pocket money to buy some wine from the wine shop after work, resisted. Then was tempted to have a wee bourbon in bed with my book, resisted again. Got a good night's sleep and ready for another day.
Tonight I think I'll make lentil and mushroom shepherds pie, a very frugal meal. Have lots of crumble left over from yesterday for pud, too.
Have a lovely day everyone.13 -
Morning all, starting the day with porridge and jam, hoping this year is going to be different as in 2019 our pick your own place closed but another was supposed to be starting up, haven’t heard anything more but I used up all my homemade jam last year so using store bought this year and I can never find fruit cheap enough to make my own at the moment. It’s also terribly wet so sadly don’t think I’ll be able to turn off the light today as wfh during the lockdown. Hope everyone is ok x15

Thanks everyone for the good wishes, everyone. My dad is still with us, but he has been fighting the end for a month now. In fact, we just learned he has contracted Covid on top of everything else. He's going to be too weak to fight it, so this might be the last straw. I'm going to stay indoors for a bit, just in case, though the care home have told us we don't have to isolate as we were distanced and PPEd to the hilt. Better safe than sorry. I just feel for the rest of my fam as no one else will be able to see him now...
Adding a spend on my recently departed friend's book to my 'fun' budget (I think by now 'fun' budget is ironic), and groceries of £14.68 plus £1.89 with the milkman.Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, £90.14 spent in total - £59.86 remaining.15 -

Hi all, thanks MandM90. Had thought about freezing the cheese, but it was frozen when we bought it. Cheese is made from bugs anyway and it'll be cooked before use. If i never post again you'll know why! Haha.
Frugal day yesterday, was going to go out for milk, but youngest DGD woke with a temperature, DD1 took her for a vivid test, so we were all housebound for the day. Result came back negative this morning, it's raining now so might try and make it stretch another day. Walking to get milk means walking half a mile along unpaved roads, not good when too much rain on the road.
Have just made brawn, with half a pigs head and some trotters. OH loves it, DD1 will eat it, as will I, nobody else will!
Big pack of seeds arrived yesterday too. Bought from premier seeds. Huge number of seeds in each pack for around 99p. No instructions though, you have to look on their website for those, also the ink on the packs is water soluble, so need to keep them dry, or write over in marker pen.
Hugs to all those who need them, take care, mumtoomany.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.14 -
@wishus I had several 'you need to come now, the end is very near' type calls at work and had to keep dropping everything and dash from work with my Dad who kept stubbornly hanging on. Such a stressful time, I remember it well. Your poor Dad - having Covid as well. Hope he is comfortable and not in pain.
Almost got blown away this morning, really windy on my daily walk but managed to dodge the rain. Just plodding along trying to get on with work and life. Cancelled my day off tomorrow as it looks like yet another storm is about to hit the UK with the inevitable heavy rain. Was hoping to get out in the garden but don't want to get drowned!.12
