@Frugalistamama that's brilliant! I am a bit addicted to reading all the debt busting success stories on here 😄
Todays activities included getting a small amount of the huge pile of organic orange peel out of the freezer (saved each time I have an orange from my weekly veg/fruit box) and it is now cooling after being candied and then will be dried in the oven. Don't want to waste the syrup either, so I will attempt to reuse that in an orange drizzle cake tomorrow.
Whilst I was waiting for the candied peel (haven't done it for ages and forgotten how long it takes!), I made some chocolate Tiffin which is now in the fridge cooling. Not really frugal, but it is tasty! Also planted some more basil onto my kitchen window sill from last year's seed packets (you can never have enough basil). Planted some free cress seeds as well using a damp piece of kitchen paper in a blueberry box I finished yesterday.
I think I'm still a bit giddy after getting a big freezer for the garage in March... The possibilities are endless 🤣2025 decluttering: 5,256 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 406🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 137/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50012 -
candied peel - now there's a thought, I'd forgotten how easy it is to make but as you say time consuming. I must make a note to myself about saving citrus peel as i do a lot of baking (and saving pennies) thanksQueenJess said:Todays activities included getting a small amount of the huge pile of organic orange peel out of the freezer (saved each time I have an orange from my weekly veg/fruit box) and it is now cooling after being candied and then will be dried in the oven. I'd forgotten - but I used to cover ii in dark chocolate for a treat.11 -

@Frugalista that is absolutely brilliant, well done you. I know many people suggest keeping a card to maintain a good credit score, I personally know if I had a credit card I wouldn't use it wisely so I don't have any at all. Who cares about a credit score anyway (unless you're saving to buy a house that is), as a frugaller I spend very very little!Small frugal win for the week - a £10 'admin fee' to re-contract with my BB provider (still the best deal on the market) has been eradicated by way of a £10 credit applied to my account. It took me all of three minutes to type the letter complaining about the fee, which is clearly money for nothing, and I printed it and posted it at work 😎. So three minutes work has saved me £10, and I certainly don't earn £3.33 per minute so that was time well spent in my eyes!Egg sales are treating us to a fish and chip supper tonight to mark me breaking up for half term. I have no plans at all to use any money this coming week, our time is mapped out with free events and the children are with grandparents for a couple of days. Catching up on my sleep and reading books borrowed from a friend costs nothing 😉

Achievements for the last few days:
- Made an orange drizzle cake to use up the syrup from the candied orange peel. Will melt some chocolate on top today, cut up and put half in the freezer.
- Made a basic white bread this morning and added cinnamon, the candied orange peel and raisins (my version of a tea cake in loaf form). It's currently cooking in the oven and then I will slice for the freezer. Saves me buying expensive tea cakes for a bit.
- Listed a couple of things online to sell (old baby clothes).
- Realised I needed a sun hat and sunglasses for DD. Instead of buying at the usual place online, I found the same things second hand for half the price.
- Finally got round to sorting out the email problem I had with Storewards and have sent on my most recent online purchases for tokens.
- Convinced DS that he doesn't need his favourite (expensive) flavour snack bar now and will wait to order until he has used the other flavours up.

Hi love, we have 15 in total, including one cockerel and 4 ex battery girls. We get around 8-10 eggs per day at present xxSallyp2 said:

Crikey that's quite a number! Of both hens and eggs. We have a hen house, its quite small and in pieces. No hens as yet. Garden is too small, plus I got my DH to lift the lawn and gravel it. He was thrilled with lockdown jobsDeleted_User said:

Its good you sell them and get something else with the cash, quite a little earner. I couldn't believe how expensive F&C were now- Grocery Challenge: April £263.60 / £250
