I'm being a bit dim here but 'gravel bags'? Are they like the 20kg plastic ones filled with gravel? Those kinds of things are what I save for! Heaps of gravel. sand, stone, piles of wood, even pallets are exciting! I just built a new pallet fence to keep the ponies out my new potato patch and am saving for my long, long, long-awaited hut, but you probably already knew that as I never shut up about it.willow_loulou said:Well said @Frugaldom x
I need some June motivation, I need some sun actually lol
So I think my June motivation will be trying to save for gravel bags for the garden. They’re £2.50 a bag. It would be cheaper to get a tonne bag but I can neither afford it, have it delivered anywhere nor move it once delivered. But I doubt I need that much anyway in my tiny garden.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Yup, that’s exactly what I mean! In a size moveable and not too heavy for my tiny city car! I think you and I get excited about very similar things lol I’m over the moon if I find any of your list!Your hut, when it’s permission is granted is going to be absolutely fabulous!Life happens, live it well.10

@Frugaldom I also have to agree about being frugal, think your post really summed up what I've been trying to say to our lovely 'newbies' or anyone joining in or reading along.
I'm also used to being judged but just put my 'big girl pants' on, politely agree with being told how to live my life and just ignore it. The other big lessons I've learned is not to compare myself with anyone on here or elsewhere and if I'm trying to be frugal I'm happy to admit if it doesn't work or I get it wrong. Mistakes are part of life and a good learning experience. Self confidence and believing in and liking yourself are the biggest assets as far as I'm concerned, I'm happy with where I am

I wasted so much of my life not 'measuring up' to everyone else. Not being 'normal'. Went through awful depressions only to read assessment on my nephew last year regarding his ADHD. I could have wept. I was reading about myself. Everything started to make sense.
So now, in my very lovely 3rd age I finally understand myself. That nagging disapproving internal voice is much quieter. Confidence slowly growing. Understanding of others improving day by day. I am so grateful for this insight. Much to be done but can only take it a day at a time.

Not sure where to post this, so I thought here would be a good place.
One of my broody hens is so proud and has just hatched - wait for it - a gorgeous fluffy yellow gosling.
A friend swopped 2 geese eggs for a doz hens eggs last month - I think I got the bargain
On hearing the news DH said 'Well that's Christmas sorted' -he's not in with a chance - but he does have an off beat sense of humour21 -
Managed a whole 30 mins with DD in the cot last night
this is going to be a long process... Also feel extra rubbish as I am fighting off a cold/sore throat that DS kindly gave me.
Tried to bake the tiredness away this morning. Roasted a huge pile of veg with harrisa and cumin seeds of which some will be eaten with cous cous for lunch and the rest will feed the freezer. Saved the offcuts/peel in the freezer to make soup at a later date and also the chickpea water to make meringues (already have two bags of meringues in the freezer!).
Got an apple and raisin cake in the oven to go with custard for pudding later to use up a pile of apples.
Now sat down with a couple of homemade biscuits.
Found a bit of extra energy as DS (4 yo) quite randomly volunteered last night that I was the kindest person and I am his hero!2025 decluttering: 5,256 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 406🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 137/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50020 -

Awww a gosling how delightful! They’re fab birds as babies for sure, very funny! My Ocado order came, no substitutes and a few minutes early. Very pleased with that and they take the carrier bags back from previous orders so have hung all but one by the front door as I needed a plastic bag for the dog towels after swimming.Life happens, live it well.10

@zafiro1984 How lovely and what a good idea to get your hen to hatch the gosling!.
@QueenJess Hope you're ok, the weather is rubbish for May and I'm sure it isn't helping anyone suffering with a cold.9 -
Aldi pack it in compostable bags, Put it straight in your boot if you have a store which does it.willow_loulou said:So I’m sitting here writing a shopping list and I’m trying to decide between delivery and actually going shopping. I lurch between the 2 because I hate my deliveries coming not in bags. It’s such an effort for me as I can’t lift or bend well. I wish they would just use paper bags or boxes or something if you need it. Sigh. So I’m thinking maybe a click and collect instead so I can pack my bags at the collection point. I’m just so tired I want it delivered 😂 honestly I need to get a grip!So who do you all use for delivery options?10
