Hi All
I'm haven't been able to find an answer to this online as yet and JD sports have not replied to my emails. I just wanted to ask this here before I phone them.
I ordered a coat that my step-son picked from jd sports and a pair of jogging bottoms. They both came with price tags that were cheaper than what I paid. The difference between the price tags and what I paid is £30, it doesnt calculate right to be tax or anything else.
Has anyone ever had this happen or know why it has?

Has anyone ever had this happen or know why it has?Mnay people over the years have posted this, mainly regarding Sports Direct. The price tags indicating a lower price have no bearing on your contract. You could cancel the order using your 14 days consumer rights and try and look in the store if they are cheaper. However you won't be entitled to the difference you paid and the price that is on the tags back.

Probably either sale stock or older stock that's now at a higher price. It's clumsy, but just a mistake. The advice above is good.0

Thanks for the above.
I would say I buy quite a lot of stuff online and this is the first time this has happened to me. It has happened the other way where sale items have arrived with their previous full price on them.
I thought the answer would be what it is but I'm still going to see what they say over the phone as I'm not impressed. The items are brand new, just released and are on the website at the higher price and in store for the higher price.

Differential pricing, charging customers different prices depending on if they buy in store, online etc isnt illegal and isnt that uncommon. Some go further still and may have a third price for their "outlet store" and a fourth price for their "online outlet store" or eBay. Similarly some may charge more for the same product in London or Northern Ireland than they do in Yorkshire (just look how a pint of beer varies in Weatherspoons pubs across the country).
It can certainly be irritating buying something and then realising its been/being sold cheaper elsewhere, or a sale starts a week or three after buying an item, but ultimately a contract is a point in time transaction and as long as they arent charging you more because of a protected characteristic (gender, sexual orientation, race etc) then its all ok (there is the old chestnut of why girls/womens items are frequently more expensive than the male equivalent)2 -
Hi
I just wanted to update this in case someone else finds it useful. I phoned customer services and whilst the agent on the phone couldn't offer an explanation for the pricing difference, they agreed to refund the difference immediately. 5 minute phone call and the refund has already cleared. Better customer service than I had expected or been led to expect. I don't think I was just lucky or that they were simply appeasing me either.
I do appreciate the advice given above, and I asked for it but have to say I didn't agree with any of it. The above argument that in the case of sale items did I feel obliged to pay the difference is weak imho. This is a different circumstance and brand new goods. Also, saying that something is not illegal or isn't uncommon isn't full justification for having to accept something. I could go on at length but there you go.
Anyway, I'm glad I phoned and I got a result I am happy with.0 -
