Not long floppy ears, nor are they furry / fluffy ears which seem to encourage ear infections. They are not basset hounds!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Ah so it’s those extremely long ears you avoid, not all ‘flopped’ rather than upright.  Yes I can understand that.  I like my dogs to be dog shaped too!

I'd be looking for a rescue. Forget designer breeds, they cost a bomb to buy, insure and maintain. I'd love a greyhound. Believe it or not they require very little exercise and are quite lazy dogs loving their sleep.
  • Yes. You try shifting a greyhound that has welded itself to the sofa or your bed. You’ll be on in the floor or learning to sleep in the smallest possible space!  Look at Forever Hounds Trust as they rescue from a wide area.

  • We homed a three year old retired racing greyhound recently and she has such a gentle affectionate nature and settled in really quickly. She walks well on the lead, has not soiled in the house once and we still haven’t heard her bark!!! At the moment she is laid out on her bed upside down fast asleep. A couple of thirty minute walks daily, fed twice a day, clean water, a little play during the day and lots of cuddles and she is happy and so are we. The greyhound trust are brilliant and give help and advice for the life of the dog. They even provide a collar, lead, muzzle, micro chipping, waterproof fleece lined coat and all dogs are spayed/neutered and have four weeks free pet insurance. You give a minimum donation of £100.  We can’t imagine life without her now.
