Just read through your diary. You’re doing really well. Keep up the good work
Hello! Thank you so much hopefully things just keep ticking along. Once the kitchen is paid for I'm going to redirect my survey money to making a card overpayment.
A good start to the day for us. I did a workout class and then we went for a nice walk - it's very crisp outside.
Back into tier 4 now which is a shame but not really surprising. I miss the gym & football the most but at least all the football is on the TV and we are able to watch it all and I've adapted to doing at home workouts on Zoom.
My main NY resolution is to drink more water. Nothing too drastic but something I could improve on.
Happy New Year all! I wish you all a happy, healthy & safe New Year.
I went to bed at 2am last night and woke up at 10am to complete an hour workout class from 10:30am followed by a shower and another walk.
Got the food shop coming tomorrow so have sorted that all out. £51.68 so £1.68p over budget but we did have to buy a few toiletries and had to restock on some basics so hopefully next week will come under by a few pounds.
I made a whole £1 from doing a survey but still need at least £3 before being able to cashout. The only survey site I’m currently on at the moment is prolific. I’m also waiting for £29.60 on topcashback as well.
I’ve cleaned the kitchen, sorted all the shopping away, taken some of the Christmas decorations down and did a load of towel washing this afternoon. Just waiting for the dryer to finish now so I can fold away the towels. Saturday or Sunday is always the day when we do a deeper clean of the bathroom & kitchen along with the dusting.
Nothing made on the money front today. The survey sites seem slow going at the moment but I’m hoping they pick up at some point this month.
The rest of the Christmas decorations have now come down so it feels like the start of a new year. The back to work blues are setting in as it’s been nice to have 11 days off and I don’t really want to return to work.
I’ve read it takes approximately 66 days for a new habit to form, therefore, I have set myself a target to wake up at 7:30am every working morning and to be dressed and ready to work by 8:30. I always struggle to wake up in the morning, unless I have exercise classes booked in at the gym for 7am, so I’m going to give this a try.
I have flexible working hours (thank you local authority working) so as long as I do 37 hours across Monday - Friday it’s all good.
All my personal DD have gone out for the month now. I have £132.69 left for this month. All our joint account DD have also gone out so just left with £160 for food shopping.
We had a further £102 left in our joint account doing nothing so we sent £42 to our joint savings account and have left the rest for any misc spending that may crop up.
Got the rest of my partners presents for his birthday to come now. They came to £44.49, so I have £88.20 left now. Nowhere to go so nothing to spend on the entertainment front. I will have a card and some gift wrap to buy at some point but hoping I can sneak it into the online shopping.
Just updated my signature to reflect the change in debt level. It’s gone down and that’s the main thing.
We booked a UK holiday for end of August/beginning of September. We booked through Air BnB. We can cancel up to 24 hours before the trip and they will give you a 100% refund. We paid the first half using money from our savings (£220.50) and then we pay the other half the week before we travel so we have until August to find another £220 which is manageable.
After way pay for the kitchen, which will be paid off the first week of March, we will begin to rebuild the saving pots up.
We currently have no plans to get married or have children plus we are both lucky to be in quite secure permanent employment. We thought a UK break would be better than trying to find somewhere to go abroad. We do have a all inclusive holiday booked for May (that was carried forward from last May) but we obviously need to wait and see if that will happen. If we do get to go, we will just need to take a bit of spending money.
Ticking along nicely. Struggling for motivation already but only one day left until the weekend. I didn’t mind WFH in the summer and autumn as it was nice enough weather during the day to go out walking plus, I miss talking daily with my team.
Finished off the shopping and we came a few pound under budget. I had to borrow my sister some money (£30). She is disabled and lives by herself but she forgot to track an outgoing payment this month. With her money being quite tight due to the benefits she lives on I get worried about her not eating properly and being in a cold flat so I try to help her as and when I can.
Shopping got delivered. One item missing so it came to £48.38 which is under the £50 budget we set so that's a bonus. Two more shops left for this month. We have £55 for each shop as we need a few more toiletries. I never realised how much toilet roll we got through until I had to buy it myself!
I couldn't get a delivery for next week as all the slots have gone so had to go for a click & collect but it is free so nothing really lost there. We we just have to drive to go get it but it's only a 10 minute car journey so not too far away.
We are having our one budgeted takeaway this evening so need to decide what to eat. I always struggle on deciding what I actually want to eat - that includes all home cooked meals so it always take an age doing the shopping.
