HELP!!! First time mortgage rejected 😢

My mortgage application was rejected a month ago because the underwriters didn't have enough information. I'm still waiting to hear the exact reason but the broker won't answer my calls. Just emails to say finances or affordability are not the issue and keeps trying to push me into making another application.

I'm not happy with the broker and the service but what can I do if she won't tell me why? She didn't answer if she got paid for each application she submitted wether it was approved or not. I've asked 3 times!!! I'm worried because I don't want to risk another black mark but I'm also going to lose the house. This has gone on for too long!!

Ask her to apply somewhere else? You just might not meet the criteria for that particular bank.

She probably thought you were joking. No one pays people to make declined applications.

If you're not happy she's placing your application correctly, change brokers. But if you want to buy a house, you need to make an application. It's not a black mark - it's a search.

Same thing happened to us last year when we were buying our house. Relax! Its normal, one lender may not want to lend you the money because they may deem you too high risk, but another will be perfectly happy to do so.

We applied with Sainsburys bank and got rejected immediately despite our good credit records and affordability. We were panicking just like you did but our broker explained that its not something we should lose sleep over. We applied again with Bank of Ireland and got accepted. Just listen to your broker and apply with different bank.

P.S. As far as I`m aware they only get paid commission if the mortgage goes through.
