It has been an odd couple of weeks, I had the last week in March off work, then went back into work to find myself faced with the option of applying for another job - I was approached concerning the job which although is slightly lower in money, will no doubt do me the world of good, to get away from the troubles of the past couple of years and, what's more, there will be no interaction with the 'nasty one'. I have decided I will apply and am willing to lose a little money, as I'll make up for it with a better outlook on life, and if being in debt and going into a dmp has taught me anything, it's that you should always put yourself first - no matter what, do the best for you. I'm still trying to save a bit here and there, I have a debt just shy of £500 that I would like to clear next.
The shopping budget is being kept to which is good news - I still have money left over and I get paid on Friday - I haven't been in this position for a very long time. Mind you, the brakes on the car are getting squeaky and I have to have a tooth out soon, so there's the money gone, but at least I have the money for it.
One last thing, I started WW again recently, and I'm four pound gone - next weigh in on Wednesday.
I'm feeling happy to be looking forward again.1 -
That's good news then.
Happy to be looking forward again is good.

Quick run through... back in April was approached about the other job then, all went quiet. Talk of budgets etc. Then very long and drawn out story short, I had an interview a couple of weeks ago and was offered the job. Hooray 😀. Now I'm waiting on a start date, it's all getting complicated with when I can move across so I decided to take some leave for the next week in the hope something will be sorted by the time I go back 🤔. Also have my second jab this weekend 👍.
I've had a busy month spending wise, not as good at budgeting as I thought. Must watch that, especially as I'll be earning less. But, I will be well away from the thorn in my side 🐍and that means more to me.
WW was going great, then I went crazy for crisps and wine and made a proper pig of myself. Anyway I'm trying again, logging everything and I'll see how I go. I've also had my check up with dr and all good but she confirmed losing weight post-menopause is really difficult and not to be discouraged.
DD still working hard bless her. Theory driving test coming up🤞for her.
Looking forward to another lovely day tomorrow.

Yesterday, met a friend for lunch, was lovely to catch up and get out for a while. Today I have been to the cinema and have done an online shop. I haven't done one of those for a while because I've just been going and getting when needed, but I have found myself slipping and buying things I dont need, so decided to do it online and get it delivered- came to £50 so I'm pleased with that. Have started to re-assess things and tomorrow am looking at the bill's in order to get them down a bit. I'm sure there are savings to be made.0

Congratulations on the new job role!0

Thank you DayDreamer... I'm looking at it as a fresh start (even though it's with the same company).
I am starting to get anxious regarding my 'off the wagon' living lately: spending, losing sight of saving for debt clearance, over-eating etc. Overhaul required 😧. Unfortunately I have these lapses of motivation but I guess we all do from time to time.
Anyway, it's raining here now, which has broken the mugginess so all good. Today will see me focus on house cleaning 😟 - need I say it's another area I need to address. So my goal today is hoover throughout, clean bathroom, kitchen and living room. I must say I'm glad the shopping is coming to me and I dont have to go to the supermarket. I'm going to keep this up. I thought my way of ad-hoc shopping was working but in reality I know planning and organisation is key and for the first time in a while, i know what I'm doing for tea for the week - no brainer really 👍.
Having a cuppa now, then will crack on. Have a good day.1 -
Well done on taking control. I make a "to do" list when I start to feel like things are slipping. I need to make one today actually instead of sitting here having vague thoughts about what I should be doing 🤣1

Hi there, I just came across your diary and I have to say you are doing fantastically well! The amount of debt you've cleared is no mean feat and I applaud your decision to go for the new role despite a small decrease in pay I'm certain your mental health will feel the benefit. You spend far too long at work to do something or go somewhere that makes you unhappy.
Well done on the meal planning and budgeting. We have always been meal planners but the odd top up, take out or trips to the pub can add onto our weekly spending. Especially as we are now allowed out again. I've subscribed and will be here to cheer you along, I find that posting 2-3 times a week really helps me focus, even if I'm chatting to myself!
Lots of luck in your new job
