Have they offered you to waive all overdraft charges incurred due to the incorrect debit? If not, I would ask that they do so, in addition to the £25 they have awarded you for the distress caused by them.
Thankfully I wasn’t overdrawn at that point but I was left with less than £300 in my account.
  • Looks like they are paying you back from their own funds so the original retailer got to keep their funds.
That makes me so angry! I really didn’t want the retailers keeping the money after how they treated me. I’ll ask RBS to confirm.
Why bother? You have your money back because (presumably) the bank made an error somewhere.
I would expect RBS to politely tell you to go away.
    Move on.

It’s a matter of principle why I would not want the retailer to have retained the money. It has been a very stressful few months dealing with this issue and I would be furious to know that the retailer has been allowed to keep the money that is not theirs.

Sorry but you have had your money back - the bank will not help you further.
It is none of your business now that you have been refunded.
Principle my a=se - if you want more out of them then go to court and sue them.

That’s ok then. I just thought you had said you were £1,400 overdrawn as a result of the unexpected debit.

Yes it does happen as it happened to me , there’s nothing you can do if they’ve took the refund back , you’ll have to redispute the payment again if you wish...

happy new year btw too 🙃

You can't re dispute the payment... It's a one time offer..

Only way forward for OP is via the courts.
