Eon unfair billing

@NealM - have you thought that it's your flat that may be wrong and that you are paying far less than you should be ?
What is your ACTUAL annual consumption in (kWh not £) ?
EDIT £80/90 a month is fairly typical for a electrically heated flat - £33 is notNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hi,
What was the outcome?
I am having the same issue and the keep saying I have not gave readings when I have, I just missed 1 or 2.
There saying I owe also £700 ish as a catch up bill but I can see after updating my meter readings the last few months that I am using £34 a month, Only a fridge on in the flat and I barely stay their.
They made some mistake and put me in £1400 arrears then changed it to £700.
One thing they keep saying is my 1 meter barely moves and always asking for repeat pictures like there calling me a liar, like I say I barely stay their, spent 2020 at mrs and they had around £500 that year, very similar to your friends at £34 ish a month is what I can see I am using and £34x12=£408.
My yearly estimates is £450 so where there getting £1100 a year to run a energy efficient fridge, I would like to know as they had £500 and want another £700.
See its hard for me to understand how they got that number as Ive gave reading the last 3 months and every month it has updated and been £30-£34 so how there adding it up to £1100-1200 I would like to know.
I hate being called a liar too as I have definitely gave meter readings quarterley with Npower and payed the updated bill which is normal £150 ish but they keep saying I have not gave a reading since I have moved in which is total bs but after they re bill me the answer is the same I owe £700 for 2020.
I cant log in to Npower to prove anything either but I have explained it as above but they dont want to hear me and what I am saying and just keep saying I have not gave readings and its a catch up bill.
I also got £20 debt letter fees before even getting a bill off eon after they took over. Took about 2 weeks to get them to create me a account too.
Been a nightmare and I have exhausted everything. Hoping the debt recovery look at it and see the problem as it seems to me that they dont want to believe my real usage and charge me what they like.

For a 1 bedroom flat single person £30-40 a month seems very right to me maybe a little more if you have the heaters on which I never do but no way should £80/90 to £100 be right, thats house money electric.
£10-15 top up week to run a 3 bed house with everything going on with bulb but £25 for a 1 bed flat on none top up eon?
Am I missing something? As that dont make no sense to me.
Then I can see "in my case," when I put my readings into Eon it goes up by £34 each month? I bet his friend would of been similar if he had gave readings.
So I know in my case Im using £34 a month, I cant speak for OPs usage but OP also has a 1 bed flat and also says his bills are never that high and his on older technology which would cost more.
Id like to know the outcome as adding £700 would mean like me he also has been charged around £1200 a year for a 1 bed flat based on him not giving updated meter readings. Thats ridiculous as 3 bed houses with preoay meters dont cost that.
I think there charging what they like regardless of what your really using, like Im on a flexi plan so they can just add a zero to the end and say I owe that as thats the price we want instead of what it really cost and the excuse of not giving a meter reading is a excuse to charge you more because I can blatently see I am using £34 a month but they want £90 ish for months I apparently didnt give readings with another company they took over.
Im not even in debt with eon as I have been paying my £34 a month after readings but they want £90 a month from 2019 to 2020 when I was with Npower saying I have not gave readings when I have.
I have no bills or access to Npower to even prove it either and I think they know that.0 -
To compare with me, I have a 1 bedroom bungalow and only electric (ground source heat pump). I am home most of the time too. Outside of winter my bill when I was with OFTM was about £45-55/month and £75-85/month in winter. But I have higher use due to needing certain things more like a tumble dryer (personal reasons). So £90/month does seem high for most single people in a 1 bedroom flat.-1
