Silly question this, but my physical secure key's dead.

I've downloaded the app to see if I can activate the Digital Secure Key, but it looks like it's asking for the secure key code (after entering username) which I am obviously unable to provide.

From their website:

My Secure Key’s battery has run out

If the battery has run out, we recommend switching to a Digital version. It sits on your smartphone as part of the Mobile Banking App. Most people take their phones with them everywhere these days, so you’re less likely to lose it.

If you haven’t already, just download the first direct app from your App store, and follow the instructions. Then, you can go to ‘Security Settings’ from the menu, and select ‘Activate Digital Secure Key’.

Unless I'm missing something, how am I supposed to log in without a secure key code?

I've ignored the other option 'New to Digital Banking?' as I'm already an online banking customer?

    Ring them up.
They will delete the old secure key to allow a easy set up of the digital one.

You can actually login without the secure key (or at least used to be able to) but could not really do anything.

Not any more. It's been quite a while since they allowed that.

When I changed phones last week I rang FD as I was having problems with the app - the agent was really helpful and patient.  She asked me login online and sent a one-time code to my laptop (Edit - may have been to my phone!) to key into the app.  Very quick and easy (with the patience of the agent :) )

What happens if I lose my Secure Key or it breaks?

Call us and we'll send you a replacement Secure Key. You'll need to activate it before you can use it, but you can do this easily online.
