Tribunal case, wrong date on p45 and furlough

Hi there,
I hope this makes sense.
I was on furlough from my part time admin job from end of march-august. My employer did not keep in touch but another colleague acted as a go btwn for me and other colleagues.  I was assured I would be back and when there was news I would be informed.  Then came my termination of employment letter. I had a weeks notice, but he had posted the letter on the last date of employment (according to him) and I received it after my employment had ended. I received 1 weeks furlough pay (before I received the letter).  There were also issues around holiday pay and that has been sorted 'technically!'.  I have written letters (both ignored) and gone through the conciliation process (he declined to comment) and have now logged a case (that has been accepted) for discrimination and unpaid wages with the tribunal courts.  We now await his response although I have had a small payment put into my bank from the company but no communication, I emailed the courts but they cannot advice - what does this mean!?.
Also 3 months after leaving i requested (again) my p45 and payslips as I hadn't had 1 since start of furlough.  Now my p45 has arrived....it lists my end date as 4th September, when in his letter of termination it was the 24th August (I argued it should be the 31st August). I had applied for universal credit from 1st sept and my insurance that covered my hp on my car had his leaving date (they emailed him about this).  What do I do, leave it? Does it matter?!
Any advice gratefully received.

UC wont matter as that goes on the amounts recieved in the time period, Id pop a note in your diary but it shouldnt matter. Your car insurance thing youd need to check the docs that came with it. Id ring and tell them that your employer has provided a different end date.

It's far from uncommon for the P45 date not to match with the final day of employment, although it should.  When I worked at DWP we often had to query the actual end date of employment.  Sometimes the date on the P45 was the date payroll was run, or the date the information had been entered onto their payroll system.
  • Thanks for your reply. Does this mean I have to contact dwp? The date i have received it is over 3 months after leaving so not sure why they would put it wrong.
  • It is only "wrong" in your eyes.

Your employer will have had a reason why that date was used.

You just need to explain things to DWP from your perspective.
