Tracking requests for low value items

Options
I'm currently sending a lot of one item by Royal Mail. It's priced at about £4 including postage. I've had several requests for the tracking details. Why are people so bothered? It's not particularly time sensitive and if it gets lost I'll send another or refund. If I was tracking every item it would cost more and, going through high volume, would probably take an extra day to be sent out.
I've never considered asking for tracking on anything below £20 and even then I'm rarely that bothered. Has everyone now been programmed by Amazon?

You could always get them a proof of posting slip if you're using RM - and then send them a photo of the slip - but that's probably more hassle than it's worth. Or offer two posting options at checkout if its ebay - 2nd class standard and 2nd class signed for - with an appropriate premium - then if they ask for it - you just politely point them to the fact they've chosen the basic option that doesn't come with tracking.
  • I had someone in Norway ask me for tracking on a piece of coloured paper I sent.

    ^^^^

There is a tracing paper joke in there somewhere.  :D
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I send franked mail, I label them and drop them at Royal Mail. I'm sending around 200 per day at the moment and largely doing it myself. Anything that slows it down really isn't worth the hassle.
