yes I understand that my solicitor does not do the searches. But I was informed by him that he has d spoken to the buyers solicitor and he told us the buyers solicitor told us they were all complete and fine when this is not the case. So my point is he has lied to us. he also told us the buyers were signing their contract this week which is also a lie.
Why would he lie? What's in it for him?

It simply isn't any of his business - he has no need to get involved in your buyer's searches.

well not being funny from the beginning he does not seem to have know what he is doing. For example 2 weeks ago he emailed me asking me why I had not returned and signed the mortgage deed, which he had not even sent to me in the first place. Unfortunately we have been having problem after problem with him . He never actually answer my questions and just say's the same thing each time. He informed us he had spoken to the buyers solicitors about the contract being signed, but according to the buyers solicitor this was not mentioned to them at all. Therefore I am not confident that he is telling us the truth or actually doing what he is meant to be.

The enquiries on your purchase may well be completed.  However, the enquiries can't be completed on your sale as you say the buyer's solicitor hasn't received the search results yet.  There may be additional enquiries raised based on this.

I hope that you're not using your real name as your user id, because if you are and your solicitor or associates happen to frequent this forum then he's going to be well aware that you're slagging him off and calling him a liar.

From the sounds of it your solicitor has done the work for your purchase and the chain is now waiting on your buyers (the bottom of the chain) to get their searches etc in.
Any information given to your solicitor RE your sale comes from the buyers solicitors, he has no reason to lie.
Your solicitor would have been in touch with your buyers solicitor to discuss getting contracts signed if all the work for your purchase is complete, as that is an integral part of conveyancing haha .... however until your buyers solicitor catches up nothing can be exchanged, and that’s not your solicitors fault, by the sounds of it he’s all done with your side of things and is now playing a waiting game.
